Constantine the Philosopher
University in Nitra (UKF) is a public medium-sized university established in 1992 as the University of Education
in Nitra which became a successor of Pedagogic Institute (founded in 1959) and Faculty of Education. Currently,
it consists of 5 faculties with 10 000 students, offering bachelor's, master's and PhD study programs in
education, humanities, social, health, and natural sciences. All the programmes are accredited and are offered
as both full time and part time studies, reflecting the needs of labour market. The university degree system has
fully incorporated principles of the Bologna declaration and ECTS. It has more than 60-year experience of
training future primary and secondary school teachers in pedagogy and subject methodologies, and it is involved
in continuous professional development of teachers. The University puts much emphasis on international
co-operation in all fields of study and research. Bilateral Agreements of Academic Cooperation define framework
and basis for creative cooperation of the university departments with institutions abroad in the field of common
research work, exchange of students and staff, exchange of scientific works, common publishing and scientific
activities, events or curricula development for Joint/Double Degree. In addition, the university closely
cooperates with foreign institutions and embassies placed in Slovakia (British Council, Goethe Institute, French
Cultural Centre, Fulbright Commission) as well as with national research institutes of the Slovak Academy of
Sciences and many enterprises.
The University of Ostrava
(OSU) is a public research university educating nearly 9,000 students at six faculties: Faculty of Science,
Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Social Studies, and Faculty of Education.
As a dynamic and intellectually challenging modern institution the University of Ostrava provides an
international study environment. Teaching at UO is research-driven, and its programmes are often taught by
active researchers. Although the university is a medium-sized and young institution (founded in 1991), it
provides a strongly individual approach to students and flexibly responds to the needs of a modern society and
labour market. It aims to contribute to solving urgent problems of the Moravia-Silesia Region in social,
environmental, and health areas and to shape Ostrava as a truly university town. The University of Ostrava is

TThe University of
Bielsko-Biala (UBB) (originally Akademia Techniczno-Humanistyczna w Bielsku-Białej – ATH,, but since April 2023
University of Bielsko-Biala) was founded in October 2001 as an independent governmental academic institution.
Previously, since 1969, it had been a branch of the Technical University of Lodz (Politechnika Lódzka). The
machine-design, electrical and textile industries are traditional for the region so the main education areas
have been long established. However, with the change in the economy. other fields of study including management,
humanities, environmental and computer sciences, have been developed. At present, approximately 5000 students
are pursuing a degree at five faculties: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science; Faculty of
Materials, Civil and Environmental Engineering; Faculty of Management and Transport; Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences, and Faculty of Health Sciences. The University employs about 400 people, including 200
experienced professors and other members of the academic staff. As the only higher educational institution in
the Podbeskidzie region, UBB is a vibrant community of ambitious individuals who contribute to the University's
research and didactic potential by constantly attaining their professional, educational and social goals. The
University is firmly rooted in the region which is reflected in various enterprises with the community members
and also in its research interests. It is open to new ideas and opportunities to improve modern educational
tools. Internationalization has become one of the most important objectives of the University, and as a result,
it is being constantly promoted through their participation in various European network projects. The University
cooperates with many academic centres and research institutes all over the world. The number of bilateral
agreements is growing exponentially each year - up to now, UBB has signed over 100 Erasmus+ agreements, which
were created to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Additionally, it has signed about
approximately 50 bilateral agreements covering scientific and educational cooperation with foreign partners. As
a result, the number of students who decide to go abroad to study in a different European country while
completing a degree and those who decide to come and study in Bielsko-Biala is growing each year.
The Primary and Lower
Secondary School (ZŠ) of Nábrežie mládeže in Nitra, SK, is a fully organized school founded in 1967. At present,
the School has 830 pupils in 37 classes from the first to ninth grades and 70 teaching staff. Currently, the
School is one of the largest of its type in the city of Nitra. It lays its focus lays on teaching general
subjects as well as foreign languages, and sports, in particular, athletics and ice hockey. They provide
education in three foreign languages: English, German and Russian. Pupils are admitted for sports programmes
after scoring well in the entrance sports tests. In addition, the School has several IT equipped classrooms for
teaching computer science, a technically equipped classroom, a school practice kitchen, a school library, a
science laboratory, language classrooms and foreign language library, which supports students' development of
reading literature in foreign languages. The School has a gym, a fitness centre and outdoor playgrounds for the
physical development of students' physical education. It also has a beach volleyball court and a playground for
young learners. In order to develop athletic disciplines, the school has fully functional athletic tracks and
material equipment for teaching athletics. Ice-hockey classes take place at the city's hockey stadium which is
in a walking distance from the School. The School of Nábrežie mládeže is a modern and progressive school the aim
of which is to provide its learners and the teaching and non-teaching staff with the best conditions for their
development.
Golianova Grammar School
was established more than100 years ago in Nitra, Slovakia. Nowadays, there are almost 800 students attending the
School at the age of 12 - 21 coming from the whole Nitra region. It employs 55 teachers, 25 other employees and
a school psychologist. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious secondary schools in the Nitra region.
Its study programmes are divided into three types: 4-year study program (with general, language and IT classes),
8-year study program and 5-year bilingual study program (bilingual classes - subjects such as Mathematics,
Computer Studies, Culture & Arts, Chemistry and Civics are delivered in English). Since 1988, a State Language
School has also been operating within the premises of the School offering its learners special language courses
and the possibility to take state exams in English and German.
Currently, there are
415 pupils attending the Primary and Lower Secondary School (ZŠ) of A. Hrdlička in Ostrava-Poruba, CZ. Starting
from the 2007/2008 school year, the School began to provide education in accordance with the school educational
program - School of Many Possibilities. The School's focus on extended language teaching has, however, remained
unchanged. The English language is the first foreign language and it is the profile subject. It is included in
the curriculum beginning from the first grade and from the third grade 3 lessons per week are allocated to
English. From the 6th to 9th grade, students study also a second foreign language - German, Russian or French.
The School has long-lasting relationships with Hello Language School, Oxford University Press, the Goethe
Institute in Prague, The Duke of Edinburgh International Award Czech Republic Foundation. The School cooperates
on projects with neighbouring kindergartens as a part of the Children to Children project, participates in the
international DofE project, and implements the year-round United Proud Schools project. Pupils from the lower
secondary section of the School are regularly involved in the project You too can save a life, which was
developed in collaboration with the University of Ostrava, Faculty of Health and Social Studies and it focuses
on the effective administration of life-threatening first aid. The School reflects new teaching trends and
introduces innovative educational approaches such as group-work, project teaching, experiential teaching
methods, and the CLIL teaching approach. Another important need the School faces is networking and establishing
new contacts for European cooperation. In terms of human resources, the school intends to focus on improving
teachers' language skills so that all teachers can participate in European projects.
Volgogradska Grammar School
focuses on providing eight-year general education. On completing the general core of the subject portfolio
during the first five years of study (from prima to kvinta grades), students can profile their study program by
choosing elective subjects. The composition of these subjects allows students to have a language or humanities
orientation as well as a science or computer science and programming orientation. The eight-year course of study
provides high-quality language education resulting from the continuity of language training at the lower and
upper secondary school level. The curriculum includes two compulsory foreign languages. From the third year
onwards, pupils choose a second language from the following languages: German, French, Russian and Spanish.
Latin is offered as an elective subject, too. Most of the School's graduates go on to study at universities or
higher education technical schools with excellent results. A number of specialised competitions, excursions,
visits to exhibitions, theatres and concerts, professional lectures and talks are an integral part of the
school's educational program. All classrooms are equipped with multimedia technology enabling interactive
presentation of information and projects. Students have the opportunity to attend special interest clubs in the
afternoon - choir singing, sports (badminton, basketball, sports games), programming and robotics, journalism,
astronomy, computer typing course, hobby club for girls.
Oxford Primary
School (Anglojęzyczna Szkoła Podstawowa) is a small, yet lively bilingual institution for educating primary
school children. Its mission is to create an inspiring and creative space to learn not only foreign languages
but also to deepen knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship, broadly understood leadership and socio-emotional
intelligence. The school program is based on developing positive qualities, such as diligence, accuracy,
punctuality, independence, creativity, modesty, respect for others, for oneself and the environment, prudence
and many others. The school staff try to support parents in the difficult learning of raising children so that
they grow up to be wise, good, internally beautiful and noble people, as well as able to make right and prudent
life choices.
TThe history of the Joint
Technical and Forestry Vocational School dates back to 1946 when due to the decision of the Department of
Organization and the Ministry of Forestry, a Secondary Grammar School of the Wood Industry was established in
Żywiec in the historical building of the New Castle owned by the Archduke Karol Olbracht Habsburg. The School
was established due to an increased wood industry development at that time. The first director of the
institution was a graduate of the Lviv University of Technology MSc. Eugeniusz Jaciov, who worked in this
position for the first two years of the school's existence. At present, to meet the expectations of the
educational market the School educates youth in the following fields: analyst technician, IT technician,
forestry technician, environmental technician, and from September 2016 the school also offers specialisation in
logistics. The School with its long-established tradition in vocational education, employs 74 teachers,
specialising in different subjects and educates approximately 300 students each school year. It guarantees a
high level of education, carries out EU projects and programs, offers foreign practices and internships in
Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Croatia. It provides a unique school climate conducive to the versatile development
of youth, which is why it keeps its position as one the most popular educational institutions in the
Podbeskidzie region.
