Work package n°1 'Project Management'

Time line: September 2022 - June 2025
WP1 objective: administrative and financial management of the project
Main activities:
- Coordination of the project activities and events, and their monitoring to ensure all of them are timely
carried out and outputs delivered on a high qualitative level.
- Financial management of the project budget and cash flow.
- Split and allocation of tasks among partners.
- Checking timely completion of the tasks and delivery of the project outputs.
- Managing transnational project meetings.
- Communication with the National Agency and writing reports (interim and final).
Work package n°2 - IP modules design and their testing
Lead partner: UBB (PL)
Time line: November 2022 - August 2023
WP2 objective: design and development of IP modules for two languages: English and German at A2
level of proficiency
Main activities:
- Identification of predictors which will be address in the IP modules.
- Design of the structure of a module.
- Development of five modules for English (each lower secondary school partner) and five for German (each
upper secondary school partner).
- Testing the designed modules whether they work or not with learners.
- Amending the modules based on teachers' comments and feedback.
- Selection of 10 English and 10 German core modules for the text-books.
- Publishing and displaying the Intervention Programs for development of reading comprehension in English and
German.
Work package n°3 - Monograph on Intervention in teaching FL reading comprehension
Lead partner: UKF (SK)
Time line: June 2023 - February 2024
WP3 objective: to provide theoretical background for in-service teachers about intervention
program and its use.
Main activities:
- Design of the contents of the monograph.
- Writing the 1st chapter of the monograph devoted to intervention as such and predictors which can be
developed under the impact of intervention.
- Writing the 2nd chapter of the monograph dealing with the development of foreign language reading
comprehension at different age levels and levels of language proficiency. It also mentions variety of text
types appropriate for the school use.
- Writing the 3rd chapter of the monograph focusing on methodology of teaching reading and identification of
reading strategies.
- Translation of the monograph text into national languages of the partners (Slovak, Czech and Polish).
- Language and technical preparation of the tree monographs for publishing.
Work package n°4 - Verification of the designed IPs modules and dissemination events
Lead partner: OSU (CZ)
Time line: February 2024 - January 2025/June 2025
WP4 objectives:
- to verify the efficiency of the whole complex of modules designed for IP for development of FL reading
comprehension in English and German language
- to disseminate the project results (outputs of WP2 and WP3) and share the examples of good practice with
wider community of FL teachers
Main activities:
a) academic partners
- coordination of experimental teaching (application and verification of IPs for English and German)
- development of pre-tests and post-tests for testing students FL reading comprehension
- monitoring the whole process of IPs application in school teaching
- processing the data from tests, comparing findings and results
b) school partners
- testing FL reading comprehension of their learners: pre-test - before the start of the IPs implementation
and post-test - after the IP application
- implementing IPs for development of reading comprehension in English (lower secondary schools) and for
German (upper secondary schools) during 10 weeks - verification of IPs in two rounds: one in sprig 2024 and
the other one in autumn 2024
- organizing dissemination events
The first Transnational Project Meeting (TPM1)
KICK-OFF MEETING
Held at the University of Bielsko-Biala (Poland)
Date: 29-30 September 2022
The first Transnational Project Meeting was held at the University of Bielsko-Biala (PL) on 29-30 September, 2022.
It was chaired by the main project coordinator - prof. Eva Stranovská from UKF (Slovakia). Representatives from
all academic partner institutions - UKF (SK), OSU (CZ), UBB (PL) actively participated in the meeting.
Representatives from lower and upper secondary schools did not take part in the meeting as they will be
coordinated by their academic „supervisor“
The meeting was carried out following all the items of its programme:
- presentation of the partner institutions
- discussion on Partnership Agreements and Partner responsibilities
- focusing on budget categories and supporting documents required for each budget category
- setting up the Financial Management Team
- setting up the Monitoring Team
- proposals and agreement on the tasks within the first period of the project life.
The following tasks were agreed for the period October 2022 - March 2023:
- academic partners will have meetings with the schools they coordinate in their city/region to explain them
the task they are obliged to fulfil
- each partner will develop 5 modules for the relevant language variety of the Intervention Program and submit
them to other school partners
- after discussing and testing the designed drafts of the modules in class teaching, the suggestions for
improvement or additions to the drafts will be implemented
- the developed modules will be prepared and presented at the second TPM in April 2023
- developed monitoring tools and interim monitoring findings to be submitted to the project coordinator by the
Monitoring Team
- each partner will submit the interim report for the given period of the project life to the project
coordinator.

The following tasks were agreed for the period April 2023 - January 2024:
- the authors of the modules from schools will prepare final versions of each of the module and send - by the
end of May 2023:
- modules for IP for the development of reading comprehension in English to Slavka KLlimszova (OSU)
- modules for IP for the development of reading comprehension in German to Elwira Lewandowska (UBB)
These institutions will also be responsible for publishing the text-books.
- Tasks for writing the monograph were split as follows:
- Text for chapter one - UBB
- Text for chapter two - UKF
- Text for chapter three - OSU
UKF will also be responsible for publishing the book.
